How design files for carpets should be provided

File  format

Your design files are best delivered as vector files in PDF, AI or PSB (large Photoshop document) or Tiff. We use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 and can edit files made by these programs or older versions (newer in many cases) but if there are linked images or fonts contained in the artwork, they must of course be enclosed as well. It is best, however, to provide us with embedded data only, e.g.: text turned into shapes.

The width of a roll is 200 cm at most (+/- 2cm) and we always print up to this maximum printed width. Digital images should always be provided in one piece, not several segments that need to be combined into one by us, even if you're thinking of giving us a file for each roll's worth of image data.
Larger size prints are comprised of several printed iterations of 200cm at a time, cut to size if necessary.

Please deliver files at 100 dpi at 100% of the final result. (e.g. 300 dpi at 30%).
This is the minimum resolution.
Higher dpi at the file's target dimensions is, of course, wonderful.

All files need to be in RGB color mode, not CMYK. Pure black should be R 0 - G 0 - B 0 (not CMYK Black). Please set the files to Adobe RGB 1998. Color differenced may occur. Please take in account the differences between what it looks like on screen compared to the actual print result.

Pantone colors

Our color reach is more limited than that of the RGB color spectrum. Pantone colors (PMS) are matched by comparing them to printed color books so as to get the closest possible approximation, but some variances may occur. We match with Pantone Coated colors. Please refrain from asking us for uncoated colors, as they do not match accurately. When using Pantone colors in your file, please mention it on your order so issues are more likely avoided.

Transparency can (and almost invariably does) cause problems. Please flatten all layers in your artwork. Otherwise massive color differences can occur.
When adjusting colors to update your file, newly linked images and fonts need to be re-embedded or flattened.
We do color adjustments somewhat better with vector files.
We cannot do any color adjustments on photos.
Please do not include trim guides or cutting lines but deliver the print-ready file as is.
Wherever customizations to your order need to occur post initial delivery (especially after you've received our preview), this will increase the order's price.

Lines and type

If your artwork contains lines, do ensure that they have a minimum width of 3 mm. The minimal size of an individual letter is 2 cm (in either dimension) and the width of a letter limb should be 4 mm at least. If not, depending on the print direction, they might merge with surrounding colors.
We prefer to receive files where the text has been turned into shapes over having to deal with fonts but you can embed fonts or send them along if you wish.

File delivery

We prefer to receive files through e-mail, Dropbox, Wetransfer.com or via our FTP-server (for which you can request access).
We limit artwork files at 1.5 GB. Processing problems may occur otherwise.
Please use only numeric, alphanumeric characters and/or hyphens and underscores in your file names and kindly refrain from using special characters such as circumflexes or umlauts. This will prevent problems with some of the software we use.
Please send the design along with your order form at the onset of your order.
